General Data Protection Regulation: confirming our communications with you

As you may be aware, The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect from 25th May 2018. You have a say over how we communicate with you and what we do with your data.

We can assure you, that at Shanklin Theatre Ltd we take data protection very seriously and take all possible steps to ensure your information is safe and accurate at all times. We never sell your data or share it with anyone outside Shanklin Theatre Ltd.

Information requested from you when purchasing tickets over the phone or in person is used solely to allocate tickets, Vouchers or other products offered to you and to allow us to contact you if the show is cancelled or the date is changed.

Information requested from you when registering on the website and when purchasing tickets online is used solely to allocate tickets, Vouchers or other products offered on the website to you and to allow us to contact you with updates for the show.

As part of the process of purchasing Tickets, Vouchers or products on the website you will receive two emails, one to confirm the seats, vouchers or products purchased from the theatre and one to confirm payment from the payment processing company.

We will also respect any mailing preferences which we presently hold on file for you.

The GDPR will also cover provisions such as the right to see data we hold on you and, in this respect, you may ask to see and amend the data we hold on you including mailing preferences by contacting the Data Protection Officer – boxoffice@shanklintheatre.com

COVID

Please use hand sanitser on entering and leaving the building.

We strongly advise you to wear a face covering during your time at the theatre for the safety of our staff and other customers, our ushers will be wearing them.

Box Office

Box Office hours can be found on the Contact us page.

We accept payment by Cash, Cheque (see below) Contactless, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, and JCB.

Payment may be made by cheque for shows booked well in advance. However with the end of the Cheque guarantee scheme cheques will be required to be cleared before tickets can be despatched/collected. 

Please note that on Performance days and during the hour before the performance the Box Office will be busy and there may be a delay in answering your telephone call.

Concession Prices

Concession prices (where available) apply to age 60+

Reservations

Tickets will not be reserved without payment; with the exception of group bookings (see below) we reserve the right to suspend reservations where necessary. Payment may be paid by cheque made payable to ‘Shanklin Theatre Limited’ (Do not send cash) Please enclose an SAE if you would like your tickets posted.

Group Bookings

Party rates are available on selected shows, to check rates and availability please contact the Box Office.

Party bookings are made under a lead name; this person will become responsible for the booking and for ensuring payment is made in full by the due date. Please note that not all discounts are available online.

Online Booking & Website

Online bookings for shows listed here on the website can be booked online 24/7 (excluding party bookings and disabled seating - these are only available by telephone or in person).

Tickets booked online can be collected from the Box Office on the day of the show and before the show starts and don’t need to be collected in advance.

Seats still available to book are shown in RED these will change to GREEN when you select them for purchase.

Seats shown with a wheelchair symbol are available to book through the Box Office only

Do not use the back button on your browser after SagePay or you could be charged and your seats returned back for sale if you return back through the previous steps.

Please ensure when purchasing tickets you have the correct performance, date and time selected before completing the transaction.

If you experience a problem when using our website please contact us using the contact page giving as much information as possible on the problems you have experienced.

Information given when registering on the website is used only by Shanklin Theatre and will not be passed to a third party.

Payment processing is by SagePay.

When booking tickets online you will receive TWO emails, one from SagePay confirming payment has been made and one from Shanklin Theatre confirming the seat numbers booked. When we have been notified payment has been cleared by SagePay you will recieve the Theatre email, if you do not receive one confirming the seat numbers. Please contact the theatre immediately as the booking may not have been completed.

E-Tickets

E-tickets are delivered to your email at time of purchase and are not transferrable or exchangeable. Please make sure your email address is correct and check your spam if the ticket is not received.

Do not show, duplicate or pass this confirmation to anyone else as it can only be used once for entry. Anyone showing this confirmation for a subsequent admission will be refused entry.

Lost e-tickets can be replaced by contacting the Box Office and on payment of £2 PER SEAT. The replacement ticket will only be available for collection from the Box Office on production of Photo ID.

Vouchers

Shanklin Theatre has a range of vouchers for sale which can be purchased and redeemed online or in person at the Box Office. We are unable to accept any other vouchers.

Vouchers must be safeguarded and codes not given to third parties. 

Vouchers must only be purchased from Shanklin Theatre as vouchers from other sources are likely to be invalid

Cancelled Performances

We regret that the theatre may have to cancel or abandon any performance/event for reasons beyond its control without notice and without being liable to pay any person any compensation or damage whatsoever other than, at the management’s discretion, a possible percentage or maximum refund to the ticket holder of the value of the ticket.

Every effort will be made to publicise this via the press and local radio and on the theatre’s website, Twitter and Facebook page.

Contact details given when purchasing your tickets online under data protection are used solely to process your order and we do not have access to your email.

Postponed Performances

Where a performance is postponed, unless indicated otherwise, all tickets will transfer automatically to the new date with the same seats and remain valid without re-issue.

Any patron unable to attend the new date will, on return of the tickets to the Box Office be given a refund. NO refund can be given until the tickets have been received back at the Box Office.

Bar

Please pay by card/contactless wherever possible.

The bar closes 5 minutes before the start of the performance and will remain closed during the performance, re-opening at the interval.

Please pre-order your interval drinks.

No alcohol may be brought into the building and only alcohol purchased on the premises may be consumed within the theatre. No alcohol must be taken outside the building.

No glass bottles are allowed in the Auditorium.

For safety reasons drinks should not be put on the balcony ledge in front of row A.

Please note that there may be shows where the artistes request no bar drinks in the auditorium during the performance, please respect this as it forms part of the show and the theatre has no control over this - Thank You.

Sweets and Ices

Sweets are onsale from the Foyer Kiosk - card/contactless Payments Accepted

Ices are sold during the interval in the auditorium during most performances - card/contactless Payments Accepted 

Smoking

Smoking including e-cigarettes is not permitted in the building.

Children/Under 2’s

Under 2's are permitted into the theatre for shows specifically advertised for children of that age and will require a ticket. However if any child causes a distraction to other theatre users they will be asked to leave.

Prams and push chairs are not allowed into the theatre, as there is no storage space available.

We regret booster cushions are not permitted to be used, due to emergency evacuation regulations.

Baby changing facilities are available in the foyer toilets.

Accessibility

Access for wheelchairs is available at the side of the auditorium.

Selected seats in the stalls are held by the theatre for disabled patrons, we regret they are not available to book online - Please contact the Box Office to reserve these seats.

Wheelchair patrons are required to be seated in their own chair for the duration of the performance. 

The balcony and bar can only be reached by stairs.

Accessable toilets are available in the foyer.

Please note that there are no parking facilities available at the theatre. Badge holders may park in the roads near the theatre subject to the terms and conditions of the badge.

Assistance dogs are welcome - Please contact the Box Office to book your tickets.

We have a PDA induction loop installed and patrons will need to switch their hearing aids to "T" in order to access it. This system does not operate in the balcony. For technical reasons when a show arrives at the theatre it may not be possible to operate the system.

Car Parking

Please note that there are no parking facilities available at the theatre. Car parks are situated within walking distance of the theatre; allow at least 30 minutes to find a parking space. Please contact the Box Office for further information.

Video/Audio Recording and Photography

The taking of video or photographs using a camera, mobile phone, tablet or any form of capturing device or any form of audio recording is strictly prohibited and you will be asked to leave the premises.

Mobile Phones and Tablets

Mobile phones, messaging equipment and tablets must be switched off when in the theatre, anyone who does not comply and disrupts the enjoyment for other patrons may be asked to leave without a refund.

Standing

Please note that we are an all seated venue presenting Theatre Shows, in some shows members of the audience may be asked or invited by the artist to stand which may restrict the views of those who wish to remain seated, the theatre has no control over this so please be mindful of this and follow directions given to you by the Ushers. 

Additional Information

Supporting acts may be used by show producers. This is at the producer’s discretion and Shanklin Theatre may not be aware of this in advance.

During any performance members of the audience may be asked or invited by the artist to stand which may restrict views of those who remain seated. We regret the theatre has no control over this.

Strobe lighting/Smoke/Pyrotechnics may be used during the performance.

Please travel light and do not bring large bags with you.

In the interests of security bags may be searched.

We are sorry if any of your property is lost or damaged whilst at the theatre but neither the promoter, producer, nor theatre management can be held responsible.
