Vacancy: Volunteer Liaison Officer

An opportunity has arisen to fulfil a vital role within the Theatre’s senior management team. The Volunteer Liaison Officer (VLO) is responsible for several key areas in relation to our thriving Volunteer community.

A detailed Role Description is available, but the key aspects of the role are set out below:

  • As part of the team that provides and supports Theatre Volunteers, coordinate and Chair Team Leaders’ Meetings
  • Providing a point of contact for all Volunteers and encouraging communication within the Theatre Volunteer community
  • Ensuring that Volunteers are recruited in a timely and effective way in consultation with Team Leaders
  • Ensuring that training of new and current Volunteers is carried out in a timely and effective way
  • Ensuring that Volunteers’ data is recorded accurately, in accordance with Data Protection requirements, in the appropriate Theatre repository
  • Ensuring that all Volunteer-related forms and other material are reviewed and kept up to date

It is important that the VLO possesses the following skills/qualities:

  • Good PC Skills (particularly MS Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organisational and time-management skills
  • Training and presentation skills
  • Approachable and tactful
  • Professional when dealing with sensitive information

Other aspects include:

  • Use of a laptop computer provided by the Theatre
  • Volunteering in another capacity would be desirable in order to be accessible and visible
  • You may need to attend various external events such as Volunteer Fairs to help with recruitment

As a Volunteer, the VLO will receive the usual Volunteers’ benefits, as follows:

  • Annual Volunteer Thank You evening
  • 5, 10 year and long service badges
  • Insurance whilst Volunteering at the Theatre or at off-site events
  • Free parking (space permitting) whilst Volunteering at the Theatre
  • Approved expenses (not travel) will be paid by the Theatre
  • A discount of 20% on drinks purchased at the Theatre Bar on production of their Volunteer Lanyard
  • Free tea and coffee whilst working as a Volunteer at the Theatre
