This musical comedy is set in Edwardian England, where draper's apprentice Arthur Kipps is engaged to his childhood sweetheart Ann Pornick.
He gives her half a sixpence as a love token and keeps the other half. However when he becomes rich by inheritance, he gets uppity and pursues the more socially elevated Helen Walsingham, who with an eye towards his money, accepts his proposal of marriage.
Arthur , though, loses his money, and in the process loses Helen. However, Ann is willing to forgive, and he eventually finds true happiness with her. Songs include 'Flash Bang Wallop', 'Half a Sixpence', 'She's too Far Above Me' and 'Money to Burn'.
